Celebrating Earth Day
20 Apr 2016Earth day is celebrated every year on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. This year on Earth Day the United States and 120 other countries will sign the landmark Paris Agreement which sets into motion key components of the climate protection treaty adopted in 2015 by the United Nations.
To commemorate Earth Day 2016, Hippocrates Wellness will conduct a tree planting ceremony outside Wigmore Hall at 2:34 PM. Every mature tree produces enough oxygen for two to ten people. The papaya tree we will plant joins several dozen other papaya trees on our fifty acre campus along with thousands of other ornamental and fruiting trees.
In addition to producing oxygen papaya is one of the rare trees that provides fruit all year round. This ripened fruit of this tropical tree tastes sweet, a bit like cantaloupe or pineapple. It is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and B vitamins. The papaya also contains an amino acid called papain or papaya proteinase which is crucial in producing the human growth hormones promoting cell rejuvenation and rebuilding cells in the liver, muscles and bones. It is good for digestion, hair and skin and has traditionally been used for:
- Prostate health
- Heart health
- Constipation
- Inflammation
- Asthma
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Macular Degeneration
