Jackfruit is the largest tree-borne fruit in the world with some weighing up to 80 pounds! It is native to Southeast Asia but, can be cultivated in any subtropic and tropic part of the world including South Florida. The fruit is high in vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin B1, potassium and magnesium. It tastes a little like juicy-fruit gum and has been traditionally used for:
- Ulcers
- Abscesses
- Snakebite
- Glandular swellings
- A remedy for skin diseases
- Asthma
- Fever
- Diarrhea
- Healing wounds
- As a sedative
- Hangovers
- Androgenic (male hormone)
- An aphrodisiac
